Mika (10) is different: he loves math, only tells the truth, and notices things other people miss. Though not so good with people, he’d really like some friends. One night he discovers a horse on the balcony of the next apartment. The horse belongs to Sascha, who‘s in big trouble. Mika spends all his spare time with the stallion, and the first time he sits on the animal‘s back he is completely transformed. Half-Kurd half-Turkish Veyse fled from Turkey to Austria with his family and has only been in Vienna for a few months. He’s stressed because his lack of German makes him an outsider and his older brother Mazlum has run away from home. Fortunately, he’s found distraction in Ana, a girl in his class. For a poetry assignment in class he decides to translate his favorite Turkish poem into German, hoping to impress Ana. But when the police show up at the family’s home due to Mazlum, the whole family is in danger of being deported.
