Children without borders and Čestmír Strakatý. No scurvy

The credit of the journalist has decreased a lot in recent years. In a discussion with journalist Čestmír Strakatý today at the Children without Borders conference, Seznam Zpráv editor-in-chief Jiří Kubík said this. "The attitude of former president Miloš Zeman towards the media is to blame, but some journalists themselves are also to blame." The event took place as part of the accompanying program of the 63rd Zlín Film Festival, and the program will also be offered tomorrow.

Moderator Čestmír Strakatý spoke about the role of the media and the digital world in the small hall of the Congress Center with three guests. Jiří Kubík, an investigative journalist who, together with Sabina Slonková, uncovered the media-famous Lead Case and since 2019 runs one of the most influential websites in the Czech Republic, was one of them. What does he think is the role of the media these days? "To explain things, to go behind those things, to watch over the government, to see under its fingers and also to uncover things that the powerful would like to remain hidden," Kubík responded to the moderator's question.

Jiří Burýšek, the founder of the website Bezfaulu.net, also accepted the invitation to the meeting. On YouTube, he creates a channel called Jirka and explains things, on which he has over 250,000 subscribers. It deals with various topics including internet fraud, targeted advertising or information overload. The men's trio was completed by the director and founder of the JSNS People in Need educational program, Karel Strachota. He has been working for the organization People in Need since 2001, in the past he was the executive director of the festival of documentary films about human rights, One World.

The program of the Children without Borders conference also included the second part of the educational video game DigiStories - the story of elementary school student Alex, which will help to open up the topic of computer games, time spent online and the influence of influencers on our actions in the classroom. JSNS's new interactive material offers an engaging way to talk to students about building healthy digital habits. The Children's Crisis Center, Seznam.cz, Czech Television and the Government Office made contributions.

On the last day of the conference, the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting will focus on the phenomenon of today: artificial intelligence. The conference Media for children, media with children takes place from 9.30 a.m. as part of the Zlín Film Festival for the seventh time. Don't miss it.
