Lukáš Kučera and Markéta Vechetová finished for the gold
A total of 1,143 runners set off on the track in Baťovský Zlín today at the stroke of ten in the morning. The organizers of the Zlín Film Festival started the festival half-marathon this year for the eighth time. Lukáš Kučera was the first to reach the finish line with a time of 1:09:42, among women Markéta Vechetová won the gold with a time of 1:18:45.
Sunday at the Zlín Film Festival belongs not only to film, but also to sport. For this year, the organizers have set themselves the task of overcoming the milestone of 2,000 runners. And they almost succeeded. A total of 699 half-marathoners and quarter-marathoners and 444 members of relay and tandem teams were registered. Adding the 820 young and old runners who signed up for the afternoon RBP family run brought the total number of participants to 1,963.
The runners set off together from the Congress Center on all routes of the MONET+ Zlín Festival Half Marathon, heading to the factory area via Rybníky to Čepkov, to Podvesná, across Benešovo nábřeží to Dlouha ulica to Náměstí Míru. The race for the quarter-marathoners ended there, and the half-marathoners had one more lap to go. The quarter-marathon course was covered by Martin Borák the fastest, who reached the finish line in 36:38, and Kateřina Mikulíková scored in the women's category with a time of 44:26.
At 3 p.m., the RBP family run of 1,400 meters started, intended for parents with children and others who prefer shorter routes. Due to great interest, the capacity for this year's run was increased to 900 participants, and it was almost sold out - 820 of them set out on the marked circuit.
