A Message from the Stars to Festival Fans
British actress Dakota Blue Richards arrived in Zlín in 2008 when she was just 14 years old. As part of the Young Stars concept, she introduced the 2007 fantasy blockbuster film The Golden Compass. A year later at the 49th festival, her next film, The Secret of Moonacre (2008), was featured in the festival. This movie featured the famous Tim Curry, who personally introduced the film in Zlín. These days, audiences can see her every Saturday on CT1 in the detective series Endeavor.
How does Míla Řádová, the festival VIP guest manager, remember her?
“Her agent made her attendance conditional on Dakota being accompanied by her mother and a private teacher who studied with her for three hours a day. It was obvious that the word discipline was not a foreign one to Dakota. She stuck to everything we suggested in the program, gave many interviews, and we even visited young sick children together with Vendula Svobodová (now Pizingerová) from the Drop of Hope Endowment Fund. It was moving to watch her talk and play with the children, like a normal person. The last evening, along with other guests, she went on a "trip to the unknown" to the Flower Garden of the Kroměříž Chateau and was thrilled with both the sightseeing and atmosphere of the evening. She and her mother sent us a nice thank you letter after the festival and we have been in contact since then. I am very glad that Dakota is among the Zlín Film Festival's fans. We keep our fingers crossed for her acting career and personal life.”
Dakota Blue Richards is a big fan of our festival and we thank her very much for her long-term friendship, big heart, and the touching message she sent us. Watch her video greeting here.
