Days of French Cinema

It‘s been thirteen years since ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL began showcasing profiles of European film.

Although it is a non-competition section, it occupies a leading role in the International film program. It is crucial for the supporting program, the composition of juries, as well as for the participation of foreign delegations and guests. Throughout its existence festival-goers have been presented with films from countries such as Russia, the Netherlands, the Baltic States, Spain, Great Britain, Italy, Ireland, Denmark, Poland and Germany.

ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL 2016 will focus on France.

The film programme for this section must present a nation‘ s cinema in its entirety and must emphasize the best of that nation‘ s children’s and teen films. Because the festival is also intended for adult audiences, Zlín‘s festival also includes here a minisection of selected essential works that have influenced world cinema.

French culture will be represented not only in film, but also by a rich supporting program showcasing French music, dance, literature and cuisine. Citizens of different nations will have the opportunity to develop mutual friendly relations through cultural performances, thematic evenings and workshops, and meetings. An integral part of this showcase will be the attendance of many French filmmakers and actors, and cultural and educational representatives. These figures will present their films to audiences, sit in professional juries, or take part in workshops, seminars and discussions.
