The Winner Was a Student Trailer from Russia!

For the whole of March fans of student film could vote in a competition for the best student trailer on the web site of ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL.

With regard to the quality of the trailer and the number of voters, the winner was the Russian trailer for Once ...  In the Middle of Nowhere. Congratulations! The director, Lisa Astretsova, received a prize of CZK10,000 from us.

The winning trailer won more than three and a half thousand votes. Though a slightly depressing trailer for a film, its impressive animation captivated the most people. The second best rated trailer was Black Sea from Poland and third was the Greek trailer Tsunami in Ancient Potidaea. Surprisingly, no Czech or Slovak trailers were to be found on the medals podium. Those ended up a step down from the victors.

"Voting for best student trailer basically acts to let the public know that ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL is also devoted to student film productions. The competition section Zlín Dog is a selection of the the best student films made over the past year and which have caught our attention," says Kateřina Fojtová from the programming department. In addition, the professional Industry Program also focuses on young filmmakers. You can expect its publication in mid-May. You've got something to look forward to this year!
