ZFF HAS ADDED A STUDENT TRAILER COMPETITION TO THE INTERNATIONAL STUDENT FILM COMPETITION

This year ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL will be presenting student films from all over the world within two competitions.  ZFF's student section has grown by one more competition - one dealing with student film trailers.

The 54th ZLÍN FILM FESTIVAL is opening its arms wide this year to embrace student films.  This will be done through its long-running traditional international student film competition called Zlín Dog, which is a venue for student films from all over the world which compete in three categories: live-action, animated and documentary films.
The Student Trailer Competition is still a new item for ZFF.  Last year it took place as part of the Rainbow Marble project (film marketing), but as of this year it has become an official part of ZFF's student section.  The winner for best trailer will be decided by the public through on-line voting, which will take place just prior to the actual festival itself.  All students can enter either both competitions, or just one of them.

"Last year was a bit test for us to see if we could revive Zlín Dog after so many years.  I'm quite sure that we aced it.  We had the opportunity to show some very good student films which also managed to win awards at other festivals worldwide.  We believe that this year we will show some even better ones," says Dominika Saktorová, the coordinator of the student section. She adds, "This year we want to lure audiences to come see student film trailers whose fate they can decide themselves through an on-line voting system.

ZFF's program director Markéta Pášmová had this to say about the student part of the film program:  "Student film trailers are open to the public in the Zlín Dog section. The Rainbow Marble continues to be a more professional and expert part of the festival devoted to film marketing.  Zlín Dog is thus the only platform for student productions at ZFF!  Student movies and trailers belong together.  Students can learn things from the experts at the professional Rainbow Marble section, but their own productions belong to the open Zlín Dog forum."

Interesting prizes have been prepared for both competitions – for best student film and best student film trailer.  The absolute winner of the International Student Film Competition Zlín Dog will receive €1000 and the author of the best film trailer will get CZK10 000.  All the films that make it to the final selection will also be included in the festival's official catalogue, will be screened for the public in their own blocks during the festival, and the winner will be decided by a three-member international expert jury.

The deadline to enter works to the International Student Film Festival ZLÍN DOG:
The Zlín Dog international student film competition – March 15, 2014
Student film trailer competition – March 30, 2014

The ZFF film program includes film screenings in international competitions (of which Zlín Dog is a part of) as well as screenings of films in the informative sections.  Morning screenings are free of charge, but for the rest visitors will need to get either a film pass or a ticket for CZK40 (children under 6 get in free).

The professional program consists of freely accessible lectures and seminars of the film-industry program for students and film professionals. The events of the Rainbow Marble, which are devoted to film marketing, are also open to the public.

The festival's supporting program is also overwhelmingly free to the public and includes concerts, workshops, interactive programs for children, exhibitions, and other events.
