Media for Children, Media with Children III.
The third year of the Media for Children, Media with Children conference, traditionally organized by the Council for Radio and Television Broadcasting, will focus on the relationship of children and radio broadcasting. It will contemplate on what radio is offering today's children, not only as listeners but also as the creators of their own media content. The conference will try to answer the question of what exactly is a radio production for children, what children expect from radio and what it's providing them. The IPSOS agency will present the findings of the Children and Radio study, which examined whether today's young generation is still being addressed by radio broadcasting. Radio station representatives will familiarize their guests with their programming and will illustrate the kinds of shows they are targeting for children and adolescents and what services their broadcast offering complements and accentuates. In the afternoon part of the conference, children themselves talk about their own radio productions and why they enjoy working in radio. Their adult colleagues then explain what meaning personal experience with media production has in the process of media education. The conclusion of the conference will provide a reflection on what kind of future radio broadcasting has as it competes against new media, and whether radio has a chance to win and retain young listeners.
