Biography
A director, screenwriter and cinematographer, he's one of the most important Scandinavian filmmakers. His internationally respected and acclaimed films include Who Saw Him Die? (Ole dole doff, 1968), The Emigrants (Utvandrarna, 1971), The New Land (Nybyggarna, 1972), Flight of the Eagle (Ingenjör Andrées luftfärd, 1982) and Hamsun (1996).
