This fabulous story about a mountain community is based on the rumors and fairy tales of this region and draws on the origins of these stories – the hard life of the people of the Giant Mountains. Something new arrived to these mountains at the start of the 1900s – skiing. And skiing is at the heart of this story whose main heroes are two little boys and their friend, a famous smuggler with all the qualities of the Lord of the Giant Mountains from fairy tales.

Two ghost haunt the ruins of Brtnik Castle – the knight William and his daughter Leonthyn. A group of children join them and help them in rescuing the castle from a greedy greengrocer who wants to turn the damp castle cellar into a mushroom farm. The kids get permission from the village leaders to repair the ruins themselves; their powerful ally, the extraordinarily magical knight William, greatly helps. To Leonthyn, the real world seems so attractive that she tells one of the boys how to free her from the eternal curse and how to turn her into a normal girl.

The main protagonist is a clumsy and overweight teenager called Jitka Pažoutová. Her P.E. classes, run by the friendly teacher nicknamed Bohoušek, are pure torture for her. Things take a turn for the better when, during a dodge ball game, the girls win due to Jitka's "cannon shots", which are just impossible to catch. At a tournament, Jitka meets Honza Koubek. Even though he offends her at first, he apologies and convinces her to take advantage of her strength for the shot put.

The composer Zdeněk Liška contributed the music to dozens of Czechoslovak films. His unmistakable writing was appreciated by film directors and they respected him as a co-author of their work. When composing for a symphonic orchestra, a brass band, the strings, or piano, he used all kinds of instruments, as well as electronics and sound effects. His music accompanies a number of classic Czechoslovak films. The portrait of the ingeniously diverse Liška responds to the current rising international interest in him.

Little Peter has to look after his mom's friend's dog, Blek, and the two spend the summer holidays in the countryside with his grandfather and grandmother. Peter is not only worried that the dog will be captured by the evil Mr. Plavec, but also by a group of local kids. The kids are initially hostile towards the young boy from Prague, but later join forces and try save Blek. The dog, meanwhile, escapes from the cage and disappears. Will Peter find Blek or will he have to give his mom's friend his own dog, Cézar, which his parents gave him as a reward for his marks?
