The Best of All Worlds (2017)

Adrian is seven and growing up in Salzburg. His young mother Helga and her boyfriend are both heroin addicts; his biological father died before he was born. Helga loves her son above all else. She is torn between her attempts to be the best mother possible and her need to fill the void inside with the consumption of drugs. In this world, privation is the norm. What little money there is goes to heroin, and although Helga keeps trying to kick the habit, her efforts regularly come to nought. All of this is part of young Adrian’s daily life. His world is nonetheless full of adventure and all kinds of experiences and he perceives his to be a happy childhood. It goes without saying that this happiness is far from being an innocent idyll. When Helga finally decides to face up to her addiction and undergo treatment it also means that she must – albeit temporarily – surrender custody of her son to social services.

This historic ballad is set in the mid-13th century, when robber knights attacked travelers on royal roads, while Christianity still fought against paganism, and human life had little value. Love, however, was still passionately potent. The title heroine is the virtuous girl Marketa Lazarová, predestined to a monastery. She's forced, however, to become the lover of a violent young man, Mikoláš, the son of the irreconcilable rival her clan, Kozlík of the Roháč's. Her love for Mikoláš causes Markéta to renounce her love for God, to whom she was originally promised.

A psychological and sociological generational about the world of fathers and sons in Czech society of the 1960s. This is a mosaic of the small, seemingly insignificant events in the life of a 16-year-old apprentice – a young man who enters adulthood with uncertainty. He works in a store and is tasked with stopping shoplifters, but isn’t brave enough to catch a thief or even warn him. After work, he spends time with friends and parents, but he doesn't understand anyone much. Their conversations consist of banalities, unanswered questions and pointless monologues...

Three dads suffer a rebellion by their wives. They traditionally spend a "boys' week" at a mountain cottage. This time, however, the ladies want some free time, so the men take six kids, aged 1 to 10, to the mountains. The three arrogant men turn into boys and win their children's hearts day after day by inventing crazy games on the snowy slopes they take part in themselves. Their peculiar idea of ​​taking care of kids is met with enthusiasm by the children. The moms, recharged by just a few days of freedom, are horrified after a surprise visit to check in at the cottage...

The main heroes are the two awkward devils, Popelák and Uhelák, who are sent out into the world as punishment by Hell's ruler; they have a month to retrieve a sinful soul. Their task isn't so easy at first; instead of guiding people to sin, they inadvertently help them. Disguised as farmhands, they find work on a farm and seem to be successful at last. The calculating farmer wants to marry his daughter Hanička to the vain landowner Kopyto. But Hanička loves Jan, and in order to have a happy ending, they'll need some hellish help.
